Freedom issued a release via e-mail announcing the resignation of football coach Tom McIntyre today. McIntyre, who has coached Freedom since 2005, will remain a teacher at the South Riding school and steps down with a 5-25 career record in the program's three varsity seasons. Freedom opened in 2005 but played a junior varsity schedule, finishing 9-1 that season.

The Eagles finished 1-9 this season.

Following is the release:

South Riding, VA.

Head varsity football coach, Tom McIntyre, announced his resignation after a meeting with football players on Tuesday, November 18. Tom has served as Freedom’s High School's head coach from 2005-2008. McIntyre resigns from football, but will remain a Social Science teacher at Freedom. Tom McIntyre leaves the Freedom football program after compiling a 14-26 career record in the program’s four years of existence.

In addition to his football coaching position at Freedom, Tom previously was a head coach at Allegheny (VA) High School and South Charleston (WV) High School. He was also an assistant football coach at Liberty(Bealton) High School, Phoebus High School, and Loudoun County High School.

He supported the school climate and will remain a vital member of the Freedom faculty. The Freedom High School athletic department thanks Tom McIntyre for his efforts and years of service.
